What are the ethics and conduct of a Surveyor? <\/strong><\/p>\n

According to FIG publication-17 (1998), Surveyors must have Integrity, Independence, Care and competence Surveyors duty is to<\/p>\n

\n
• maintain confidentiality about the affairs of their current and former clients and employers unless required by law to make disclosures;<\/li>\n
• avoid conflicts of interest;<\/li>\n
• take environmental concerns into account in their operations and activities;<\/li>\n
• recognise the interests of the public when providing services to their clients or employers; and<\/li>\n
• conduct their work to the best of their ability, giving due consideration to the rights of all parties<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

  Regarding the Code of Professional Conduct, a Surveyor must :<\/h3>\n

  \n
  • exercise unbiased independent professional judgment;<\/li>\n
  • assume responsibility for all work carried out by their professional and non-professional staff;<\/li>\n
  • avoid any appearance of professional impropriety;<\/li>\n
  • Make no fraudulent charges for services rendered.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

     <\/h4>\n

    It is important that Nepali professional Surveyors must be affiliated with the FIG through their national association, Nepal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (NICS). In the mean time, Nepali Surveyors must obtain Survey License to make professional practices, as the medical Doctors get their licences from the Nepal Medical Council, also for those who work in government Hospitals.<\/p>\n

        At the end, Shrestha suggested that surveying, mapping system and GPS\/GIS activities of Nepal should be more scientific as the norms and standards set by FIG.<\/p>\n

         <\/p>\n

        As the chief guest of the program, Secretary of the Ministry Gopi Nath Mainali expressed that Global Surveyors Day will create awareness to the Surveyors of Nepal on their services to the society.  It will help to resolve the issues in connection to perform the surveying and mapping activities. It has to make well manage the works of Surveyors on the land, above the crust and underneath the surface of the world. Mainali further said, Surveyors must be active. They must author their professional books and articles. Their profession should be respectful and take moral accountability. The maps which are necessary for the development of economic project must be correct and reliable. It will be co-ordinated by the government organizations.<\/p>\n

        In the program, Director General Ganesh Bhatta opined that we have to be good and professional Surveyors. Role of the Surveyors is important for the nation. Maps are the basic tool for the development of infrastructure in the country. Private and public sector Surveyors must have good co-operation and co-ordination to prepare scientific maps and accurate data, needed for the implementation of various projects for the benefit of the people.<\/p>\n

        From the chair of the program, Punya Prasad Oli thanked all the dignitaries who made the program successful. He also expressed that Surveyors must make their profession successful writing articles and books on the background of their knowledge and work experience. It will also be a kind of service to the people of the society.<\/p>\n

        As the master of ceremony (MC) of the program, Treasurer of NICS Rajendra Prasad Maratha gave the vote of thanks to all the members of NICS, Survey Officers and high ranking Survey officials who were present in the program. He informed that NICS is going to conduct the next batch of training on Real Estate Valuation in a near future. He requested to send trainees from various organizations. He also informed that ten trainees from the friendly country Bhutan will be participating in the training. The subject matter of real estate valuation is concerned in one of the ten commissions of FIG.<\/p>\n

              One day Workshop on Real Estate Valuation in Nepal was organized by Ministry of Agriculture, Land Management and Cooperative and Nepal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (NICS) on July4, 2018 at Alpha Bita Complex, Baneshwar, Kathmandu, Nepal.<\/p>\n

              It was inaugurated by Minister Hon. Chakra Pani Khanal and participated by 146 participants and experts of various government agencies, banks, cooperatives, surveyors and media persons related to real estate (land and building) valuation. Four technical papers were presented by Mr. Buddhi Narayan Shrestha, Mr. Punya Prasad Oli, Mr. Manoj Gyawali and Mr. Subash Ghimire.<\/p>\n

              During the inauguration session, Hon. Minister Mr. Khanal informed that the government is being prepared the Real Estate Valuation Policy and Real Estate Valuation Manual.<\/p>\n

               The secretary of the Ministry Mr. Gopi Nath Mainali stressed the need of proper valuation of land and building and hoped the outcome\/ recommendations of the workshop will be useful on policy formation of the ministry. The programme was closed by Joint Secretary, Mr. Janak Raj Joshi.<\/p>\n

                     The Working Week had 2 days General Assembly and 4 days technical and other sessions which is described as follows:<\/p>\n

                    The large 4-year FIG Working Week took place in the beautiful city of Helsinki. The Working Week marks the end of the term of leadership and the in total 6 days were packed with the General Assembly, technical sessions, meetings and many other activities. The Working Week attracted more than 1347 participants, coming from around 90 countries from all over the world. The Finish representation was remarkable, and FIG was pleased with the large support from both national and international sponsors, organisations and individuals.<\/p>\n

                    Technical programme<\/strong><\/p>\n

                    Over the 4 conference days the technical programme was packed with sessions and meetings with more than 412 paper presentations, 57 Technical sessions, 7 Inspirational Sessions ISS , 11 FIG sessions (e.g Director General Forum, Academic Forum, Member Association Forum , 8 Partner Sessions (World Bank, UNHabitat\/GLTN, FAO) , Pre-events: BIM, History, Young Surveyors ,STDM Workshop and several special sessions that covered the whole range of topics within surveying.                                    As part of FIG Congress 2018 the FIG General Assembly 2018 was held with a record number of delegates.                                    The Congress 2018 marked the final year for FIG President Chryssy Potsiou and her council as well as commission chairs.<\/p>\n

It was a close run, and the persons behind both bids: Orlando, Florida and Cape Town, South Africa had done a lot to promote their destination both beforehand and during the congress. This part made the congress even more exciting and lively.
